Description
Common Name: Hoya Krohniana Black Leaf
Scientific Name: Hoya krohniana ‘Black Leaf’
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate some gentle morning sun, which may encourage stronger growth and potential flowering. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch leaves.
Water:
Allow the soil to dry out partially between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain completely. Hoyas are drought-tolerant and are more sensitive to overwatering than underwatering.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity. Adapts to average indoor conditions but grows more vigorously in higher humidity.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a very well-draining, airy mix such as orchid bark, perlite, and a small amount of potting soil or coco coir. Good airflow around the roots is essential.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Occasional bloom-boosting feed can support flowering.
Pruning:
Minimal pruning required. Trim vines only to manage shape or encourage bushier growth.
Toxicity:
Mildly toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
