Description
Common Name: Philodendron Rojo Congo
Scientific Name: Philodendron ‘Rojo Congo’
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate medium light conditions, but growth will be slower and leaf colour less vibrant. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch leaves.
Water:
Allow the top 3–5 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away completely. Sensitive to overwatering, so avoid constantly wet soil.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to typical indoor conditions. Higher humidity promotes larger, healthier leaves.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining aroid mix containing peat or coco coir, perlite, and orchid bark. Good aeration is important for root health.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding in winter.
Pruning:
Minimal pruning required. Remove yellow or damaged leaves to maintain plant health and appearance.
Toxicity:
Toxic if ingested to pets and humans. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
