Description

Common Name: Pagoda Black Lipstick Plant
Scientific Name: Aeschynanthus radicans ‘Black Pagoda’

Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate medium light but may produce fewer flowers. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch leaves and cause fading of the dark variegation.

Water:
Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away completely. Do not allow the plant to sit in water, as it is sensitive to root rot.

Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity. Performs best in humid environments but can adapt to average indoor conditions with consistent care.

Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.

Soil:
Use a light, well-draining mix such as peat or coco coir combined with perlite and orchid bark. Good drainage and aeration are essential.

Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. A bloom-boosting feed can support flowering.

Pruning:
Prune lightly after flowering to encourage bushier growth and maintain shape. Pinch back leggy stems if needed.

Toxicity:
Generally considered non-toxic, but ingestion should still be avoided. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
