Description
Common Name: Philodendron White Knight
Scientific Name: Philodendron erubescens ‘White Knight’
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain strong white variegation. Can tolerate medium light, but growth may slow and variegation may reduce. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch leaves.
Water:
Allow the top 3–5 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain completely. Sensitive to overwatering, so avoid soggy soil conditions.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity. Higher humidity supports larger leaves and more stable variegation, but it adapts to average indoor conditions.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix with orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir or peat-based soil. Good aeration is essential for healthy root development.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding in winter.
Pruning:
Prune to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove any fully reverted green or damaged leaves if needed.
Toxicity:
Toxic if ingested to pets and humans. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
