Description

Common Name: Silver Squill
Scientific Name: Ledebouria socialis

Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light to full sun. Can tolerate lower light, but growth will slow and leaf patterning may become less pronounced. More light enhances the silvery spotting on the leaves.

Water:
Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly, as this plant stores moisture in its bulb and is highly sensitive to overwatering.

Humidity:
Adapts well to low to average indoor humidity. No special humidity requirements.

Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 15–28°C. Protect from frost and avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures below 10°C.

Soil:
Use a very well-draining, gritty mix such as cactus soil combined with perlite or sand. Excellent drainage is essential to prevent bulb rot.

Fertilizer:
Feed lightly every 6–8 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced fertilizer. Avoid over-fertilizing.

Pruning:
Remove old or damaged leaves as needed. No structural pruning required.

Toxicity:
Mildly toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
