Description

Common Name: Begonia Galaxy Cane Begonia
Scientific Name: Begonia maculata ‘Galaxy’ (Cane Begonia type)

Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch leaves and fade the silvery spotting. Insufficient light may cause legginess and reduced leaf patterning.

Water:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil is dry. Keep soil lightly moist but never soggy. Cane begonias are prone to root rot if overwatered, so ensure excellent drainage.

Humidity:
Thrives in moderate to high humidity. Use a humidifier or humidity tray if indoor air is dry. Good airflow is important to prevent fungal issues.

Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–26°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.

Soil:
Use a well-draining, airy potting mix (peat-based with perlite or coco coir). A slightly chunky mix helps prevent water retention around the roots.

Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding during winter.

Pruning:
Prune to maintain shape and encourage branching. Remove leggy stems and any damaged or yellowing leaves to promote healthy growth.

Toxicity:
Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
