Description
Common Name: Dieffenbachia Compacta
Scientific Name: Dieffenbachia ‘Compacta’
Light:
Prefers medium to bright, indirect light. Tolerates lower light conditions but growth will slow and leaf variegation may become less pronounced. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil is dry. Keep soil lightly moist but never soggy. Allow slight drying between watering to prevent root rot.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to typical indoor environments. Higher humidity promotes larger, healthier leaves.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–27°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining potting mix (standard indoor mix with added perlite or coco coir). Good drainage is essential to prevent waterlogging.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding during winter.
Pruning:
Remove yellowing or damaged leaves at the base. Can be trimmed to control height and encourage fuller, bushier growth.
Toxicity:
Highly toxic to pets and humans if ingested. The sap can also cause skin irritation. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
