Description
Common Name: Dieffenbachia Starbright
Scientific Name: Dieffenbachia ‘Starbright’
Light:
Prefers medium to bright, indirect light. Can tolerate lower light conditions, but growth may slow and leaf variegation may become less pronounced. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil is dry. Keep soil lightly moist but never soggy. Ensure good drainage, as Dieffenbachia are sensitive to overwatering and root rot.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to typical indoor environments. Higher humidity supports larger, healthier leaves and better growth.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–27°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining potting mix (standard indoor mix with added perlite or coco coir). Good aeration and drainage are essential.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding during winter.
Pruning:
Remove yellowing or damaged leaves at the base. Can be pruned to maintain a compact shape and encourage bushier growth.
Toxicity:
Highly toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Sap can also cause irritation. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
