Description
Common Name: Philodendron Brasil
Scientific Name: Philodendron hederaceum ‘Brasil’
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain strong green and yellow variegation. Can tolerate medium to low light, but variegation may fade and growth will slow. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch leaves.
Water:
Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away completely. Sensitive to overwatering, so avoid soggy soil.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to typical indoor conditions. Higher humidity supports faster, more vigorous growth.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–30°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining aroid or indoor potting mix with added perlite or bark for aeration. Good drainage is essential.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding in winter.
Pruning:
Prune vines regularly to encourage bushier growth and maintain desired shape. Cutting back leggy stems promotes fuller plants.
Toxicity:
Toxic if ingested to pets and humans. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
