Description
Common Name: Philodendron Heart Leaf Variegated
Scientific Name: Philodendron hederaceum ‘Variegata’
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Variegation is best maintained in good light conditions. Low light may cause loss of variegation and slower growth. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch leaves.
Water:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil is dry. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Do not overwater, as Philodendrons are prone to root rot.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to typical indoor conditions. Higher humidity promotes larger leaves and more stable variegation.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–28°C. Keep away from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining, airy potting mix (indoor mix with perlite, coco coir, or orchid bark). Good drainage is essential.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding during winter.
Pruning:
Prune vines to encourage fuller, bushier growth. Trim just above a node to promote branching and manage length.
Toxicity:
Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
