Description
Common Name: Philodendron Ring of Fire
Scientific Name: Philodendron ‘Ring of Fire’
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation and promote healthy, compact growth. Can tolerate medium light, but growth may be slower and leaf coloration less intense. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch leaves.
Water:
Allow the top 3–5 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, then ensure excess drains completely. Sensitive to overwatering, so avoid soggy soil conditions.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity. Higher humidity encourages larger, healthier leaves and more stable variegation, but it adapts to typical indoor conditions.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining aroid mix with orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir or peat. Good aeration is essential for root health and steady growth.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can damage sensitive roots.
Pruning:
Remove old or damaged leaves as needed. Minimal pruning required due to its self-heading growth habit, but shaping can be done for aesthetics.
Toxicity:
Toxic if ingested to pets and humans. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
