Description
Common Name: Pilea Silver Tree
Scientific Name: Pilea glauca ‘Silver Tree’
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate medium light, but growth may become sparse and less compact. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch delicate foliage.
Water:
Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, then allow excess to drain completely. Sensitive to overwatering, so avoid soggy soil.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate humidity but adapts well to average indoor conditions. Higher humidity promotes denser, more vigorous growth.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–26°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining, light potting mix such as peat or coco coir mixed with perlite. Good drainage is essential.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Light feeder—avoid over-fertilizing.
Pruning:
Trim stems regularly to encourage a fuller, bushier appearance. Remove any leggy or weak growth to maintain compact form.
Toxicity:
Generally considered non-toxic to pets and humans.
