Description
Common Name: Scindapsus Silver Hero
Scientific Name: Scindapsus pictus ‘Silver Hero’
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain strong silver variegation. Can tolerate medium light, but growth may slow and leaves may become less silvery. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch foliage.
Water:
Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, then allow excess to drain completely. More tolerant of slight drying than overwatering, so avoid consistently wet soil.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to typical indoor conditions. Higher humidity encourages larger leaves and more pronounced silver markings.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–30°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining aroid mix with orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir or peat. Good aeration is essential for healthy root development.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding in winter.
Pruning:
Prune vines to encourage bushier growth and maintain shape. Cutting back leggy stems promotes fuller growth.
Toxicity:
Toxic if ingested to pets and humans. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
