Scientific Name: Othonna capensis
Light:
Prefers bright, direct to bright indirect light. Full sun enhances the reddish-purple coloration on the stems. In lower light, growth becomes leggy and colour is reduced.
Water:
Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain fully. Very drought-tolerant and highly sensitive to overwatering.
Humidity:
Prefers low to average humidity. No additional humidity is required.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–30°C. Protect from frost and avoid prolonged exposure below 10°C.
Soil:
Use a very well-draining succulent or cactus mix with added perlite, pumice, or sand. Excellent drainage is essential.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted cactus or balanced fertilizer. Light feeding only.
Pruning:
Trim vines to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Cuttings root easily for propagation.
Toxicity:
Toxic if ingested to pets and humans. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
