Description
Common Name: Syngonium Batik
Scientific Name: Syngonium podophyllum ‘Batik’
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain strong leaf patterning. Can tolerate medium light, but growth may slow and variegation may become less pronounced. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch leaves.
Water:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Keep soil lightly moist but never waterlogged. Allow excess water to drain fully, as Syngoniums are prone to root rot in overly wet soil.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to average indoor conditions. Higher humidity encourages larger leaves and more defined veining.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining aroid mix with peat or coco coir, perlite, and orchid bark. Good aeration supports healthy root growth.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding in winter.
Pruning:
Prune to encourage bushier growth and prevent legginess. Cuttings root easily in water or soil for propagation.
Toxicity:
Toxic if ingested to pets and humans. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
