Description
Common Name: Syngonium Silver Pearl
Scientific Name: Syngonium podophyllum ‘Silver Pearl’
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain strong silver-toned variegation. Can tolerate medium light, but growth may slow and the silver markings may become less pronounced. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch leaves.
Water:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Keep soil lightly moist but never waterlogged. Ensure excellent drainage, as Syngoniums are prone to root rot if overwatered.
Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to average indoor conditions. Higher humidity supports larger leaves and more defined silver colouring.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining aroid mix with peat or coco coir, perlite, and orchid bark. Good aeration is essential for healthy root development.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding in winter.
Pruning:
Prune regularly to encourage bushier growth and prevent legginess. Cuttings root easily in water or soil for propagation.
Toxicity:
Toxic if ingested to pets and humans. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
